How to Define a Woman

A definition that should apply to all the women out there.

I’d been thinking to define a woman. Not in an academic way, but in a poetic, literary way.

And I wanted it to be concise. A one-sentence definition that should apply to all the women out there.

It was not an easy task. Every woman is different. Yes, you can collectively call ‘em female gender, but that’s not what I was seeking for. I started thinking about what makes a woman woman. A female body or you can say physical attributes — that’s so obvious a feature that I could leave it out of the definition.

I had to capture the essence of a woman.

Yes, that was the goal.

So after several days of thinking, writing and editing, I came up with this:

“A woman is a random amalgamation of sensibility, sensitivity and sexuality.” — Arjun DS Pahwa

From my Instagram page.

Many people, both men and women, wrote to me that it’s a perfect definition. That it applies to all the women out there.

Yes, I was overwhelmed, but you can never be too sure about your art.

So I ask you — what do you think about this definition?

Do let me know in comments.

Thank you.
